No no no.

There's an Apple SDK (Standard development kit) which gives you all the libraries and APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) for creating programs that have an Apple style GUI on the iPod. Without the Apple SDK you could still make iPod programs but you would have the giant task of managing graphics manually in memory and manually interacting with what makes the iPod what it is: unmanaged interaction with other iPod services, such as embedding maps, reading from contacts, opening web pages.

The SDK costs $150 and you need a Mac, but you can make a massive profit from selling your Apps on the app store.

I would recommend a T-Mobile G1. Open source OS from Google with Open source and free SDK for all platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac, etc) because you use the Eclipse IDE. (Google "Android OS").

I believe in testing my ability for every console I have. I have my own applications running on PC, DS, Wii, G1 (mobile), ZX Spectrum (yes I have one of those). Development rocks, but it aint easy. Game Editor helps but it has limits.

It's not really imposible, you just have to do ALLOOOOTOOTTTTT of modding to the ipod nano if you wanna put a linux on it, me and my friend actually managed to put ubuntu on an iphone and some other PoS copy of the iphone, but we had to take it appart and do all of this weird crap.
