I'd like to get anyone's input on a simple "screen test" for a Pocket PC game.

It's just a background with three characters, each repeating their same motion at 10 FPS.

Copy them to your Pocket PC and launch it using File Explorer.

Tap the background to exit the demo.

It's not much, nothing to control - just the concept and the graphic implementation... Any and all feedback, positive and negative, would be greatly appreciated.

It's a big development issue at this point: should I use 3D rendered characters, or video-captured characters a la Mortal Kombat style? How do the characters look when they're "interacting" and working within a given background?

One of the reasons I asked a previous question about saving and loading graphics as variables is the ability to create and share characters, possibly faces and styles, etc.

I believe there is a game out there for the desktop platform (Windows and Linux, I think) where people have "uploaded" their own characters and fighting styles and added their own mix into the game.

Anyone want to join me in video-capturing themselves as game characters and be immortalized in my next game? ;)

Well I'm busy capturing myself thank you
But if you want my character I could as well make some fighting moves for you I have a almost SWAT uniform I'm going to use in my black ops game...

I think if you are going to have video or stop motion captured sprites you should use photographical enviroments as well, if you are going to render the sprites you should render the background too.

You can also "cartoonize" captured sprites or make them look semi-cell shaded.

I for one use mostly stop motion in my game under development and try to keep everything photographical in the enviroment as well.

But no matter what you should never mix any of these techniques.

Great news.

I have signed on two actors so far to feature in my upcoming game. One is a TV and film actor who's been on a popular soap opera, done feature films, and is now signed on to an upcoming TV series, and the other is a stage actor with plenty of off-Broadway experience.

This is about to get really interesting - it may turn out to be a large scale production that I've always dreamed of.
