Does (or will) GE games utilize the GP2x's second processor?

Hi,

I've got a gp2x and am very interested in developing for it (with Game Editor). I'm already very excited to have discovered (with the help of Makslane and HillBilly) that a 640x480 game made in Game Editor will automatically scale down to fit a gp2x screen, yet keep its original High resolution if you hook it up to a TV.

Now I'm wondering if GameEditor games currently utilize the hardware accelerated 2d blitting built into the gp2x, or if it just utilized the main processor?

Obviously if it does not yet, this would mean a huge frame rate improvement for games on the gp2x (especially if running at 640x480). I'm especially curious because I know Makslane has mentioned eventually supporting scaling and rotating objects.

Game Editor only uses the main CPU now, but I think will use both in future versions.

Awesome news indeed! Thanks yet again Makslane. Even though the current version of Game Editor uses only the main processor, it is still fast enough to make nice games at 640x480 for the gp2x(for tv out), just probibly not a fast action game with lots of bullettes on screen ;) , but once it utilizes the hardware acceleration, it should be great for any sort of game!

That will be great, With future versions of Game Editor, people like myself could develope a game at 640x480 resolution for PCs, Linux and Gp2x all at once! While I'm an old-school gamer and pixel-artist who loves 320x240 resolution, most game players today (especially on PC) are used to much sharper resolutions. 640x480 is the perfect compromise.

Or, of course, If a game-maker doesnt want to support the higher res, just think of how many cool effects or moving objects it will be able to handle at 320x240?! :)

I'm waiting eagerly

I sure would like to see a comprehensive book on Game Editor. I can't wait to start working on something. But I'm stuck working without a break for the next week before I can get to playing.

I'm so bummed my brand new gp2x had a defective SD slot. I sent it back today and it'll be at least a week before I get a replacement. boo on that.

What is nice though is that 90% of my original game art from the PC games will work fine in GE. I just have to make some new scaled versions of some sprites I scaled on the fly before.
