@AliceXIII actually i am interested in hardware too as a hobby and i came up with the whole idea... and the current status is that Hblade, lcl, and a couple others are working on the os i am working on the actual hardware... but at the moment the project is at a standstill i need money to start getting the stuff i need to build the Game Editor Pocket (name thought up by Camper-something-or-other) and i just need to get the stuff i need and build it then we turn to building the software...

Im looking into using a raspberry pi and interfacing it with my prop board the raspberry could handle GE and linux os while the prop board would handle all input/output like custom controllers, keyboard and mouse, and several other things :D

We meet again... XD So... i have been pondering and trying to blast past the freaking designer's block i have been having w/ this handheld.. and i have it... i was watching a ben heck video on youtube about rasberry pi ad got a ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC IDEA! :D four words: Game Editor Source code... and i have edited a little bit to the game boy system design... i can use the code to for use on the raspberry pi and probably make a gameboy... or mebbe a mini game creator.... it is possible... but i need help... I havent looked at the source code yet... i am going to try and use the code to make a ge gameboy... or a ge mini computer dedicated only to ge... good idea? bad idea? what?

EDIT: if i do the mini computer idea... i am going to put a tiny keyboard in or something... i havent got to that part yet... this is a VERY UN-THOUGHT IDEA! I HAVE NOT CONSIDERED EVERYTHING YET. just wanted to state that. btw; the main reason i have been gone fr so long is because of 2 things: highschool and a newly-bought game called Minecraft... ;)

Awesome idea! Go for it, man.

You know what you can get online for around 60 bucks (or $25 at Dollar General)? This portable Sega Genesis! You can pick one up cheap, play street fighter and sonic the hedgehog a few times, and then take it apart to see what makes it tick. It's probably got lots of useful parts on it, screen, buttons, case, sdcard slot etc. I don't actually have one yet, so I don't know how good the screen quality is on it, or how difficult it is to take apart. If your rasp pi fits in the case then you can use that too. If not, it's rather useless.
Either way it would be a good, cheap gadget to study.

Do you know about 3D printing? That would be a good way to make a custom case. You can use the free program Blender to design a case, then use a service like Shapeways to print out your design.

good idea. i will look into the genesis idea and take it apart... and it will fit in the case w/ possibly quite a bit of room to spare... this is because rapberry pi computers are as big as a credit card. :D and also, that would save me the work of making the thing completely from scratch! :) the 3d printer idea is good too... but i don't have one. and don't have ANY parts to make one... :( oh well... life's not perfect... XD but i will DEFINITELY look int the game system! :D And the pi already has an sd card slot on it already so i won't need one! :D
