I welcome all newbies to Game Editor , may you make your dreams reality. I do see a very common mistake that all beginners make . This purpose of this topic is to give beginners some advice .
1) Rome wasnt built in a day , same for your game.....
I know the temptation , you want to make a console game in 1 or 2 days . All that will lead into fustration , and failure . Start by reading tutorials and practicing them . Learn how to make a simple , basic game .
2) Coding is an art , respect it .
Learning to code is a neverending journey . No one here has mastered coding , just various levels of very skilled coders and intermidiate coders . Dont get upset if you cant understand how to do
something. Honestly it takes at least 6 months to really grasp Game Editor enough to make a solid game .
3) Dont be afraid to ask questions.....
Instead of going crazy , thinking of how far you can throw the computer out the window , come here and post. There are no stupid questions if you dont know ,ask . No one here will disrespect you , and if they do , I be the 1st one to jump in .
I thank you for taking the time to read this and also remind you there is a tutorials section on game editor with step by step examples to help you get started with coding.

Not to disagree with you or your post zxcvbnm, but I thought I'd add my little bit. I've been here for... looks at my profile, a little over a month and I feel like I could make a decent game. I think if you work at it, and with some patience and respect you can learn game editor a lot faster than 6 months. If I read this post before I chose to try game editor, I probably wouldn't have tried it. There are many other dev tools that boast a faster curve than 6 months... but I'm happy I chose it. With a little help, though he may claim a lot, from skydereign, I've gotten down some of the major ideas behind game editor, and I believe others can too. And for convenience, here is the tutorial section he mentioned.

as a complete newbie this all sounds very reassuring. and good to know that by the sounds of things this community doesn't get pissed off with newbie's asking silly questions etc. :) i know that i'm bound to start out being overambitious and that i'll get frustrated n stuff cos i know what i'm like. but hopefully when it comes to that, they'll be enough helpful people here to point me in the right direction and avoid me throwing my laptop out the window!
