MOD Playback - Hang on Exit

Hi, this is my first post here... I was looking in the Clickteam forums for info on thier support for Pocket PCs (which seems skant at best), when I saw a post suggesting game-editor instead. I'm still in shock that such an amazing and simple to use tool is so cheap! I still can't believe it, it's so quick and easy! I take my hat off you makslane sir, a job very, very well done! I bought the cheap option, but Ill buy the 1 year option as soon as the cash allows, its worth twice that at least :)

Anyway, my main reason for posting is that I've had no problems so far with the editor, that is until I added some MOD music. It runs fine on the PC, and on the Pocket PC until I exit the game ( using ExitGame(); ) it hangs my PDA, it also wont always let me soft reset either so I literally have to hard reset and reinstall all my PDA software :(

Any help greatly recieved :)

PS. my pocket PC is an Acer n30, and version 1.3.2 of GE if thats any help!

Thank you very much!

About the MOD crash, can you give me a link to download the MOD file (or the game?)

You can find the MOD here...

http://www.s3m.com/dma/displayuser.php?user_id=1178

it's called MONSTER3, about 1/3 of the way down.

As for the game, theres not much going on with it really, yet. There's just a few platforms, some scrolling and a charcater with his x position fixed. The game doesnt cause any problem running on the PDA until the music is added, even then it runs just fine until you quit the game, then the whole system dies, again its fine on the PC.

I did try another title by the same author, but the result was the same :(

I hope this helps! Thanks :)

I did just think of trying to use 'stopsound' to stop all sound events before exiting the game, i dont kow if that would work? It seems I cant try it as the stopsound dialog box streches seemingly infinately to the left and right. :(

I have tested here without crashs.

Can you make this test:
1) Add an actor in an empty game
2) Put the Play Music action in a Create Actor event
3) Put the ExitGame() in the mouse click event

Export to your pocket and tell me if crash

Ok, I just tried that, nothing but the 1 actor with play music on create actor and ExitGame on left mouse button down. I still get the same result. :(

You can dl the Pocket PC exe http://www.clantools.net/pda if you want to try the exact version that's crashing my PDA.

Thanks

No crash here. Can you tell me the error message? (if any)

Theres no error message, it tries to return to the desktop. Some of the desktop appears and the rest goes white, then it stays frozen until I reset it. Usually when its done this the soft reset button does nothing and I have to hard reset :(

I did wonder if it was something else installed on the PDA causing problems, but when it hard resets everything is wiped except the OS, so i dont think it can be that. Is there some OS/System info you need that might be usefull?

The crash happen if you stop the music before exit?

I've tried so many things im sure I tried issuing the stopsound function right before exitgame, the only thing that has worked so far is to not play music at all. WAV sound effects play fine during any test I do though, so it looks like its just playmusic related. I'll try again this afternoon to be doubly sure as Im stuck at work right now :(

Ah, I’ve a version on my PDA already where I tried that. I just checked it again and yup, it does still hang even using the stopsound event before exitgame.
