I want you to vote yes or no, but also post what you voted, so i can get an idea of what skill level people are before they buy a copy of GE. I'll make that assessment based on your other posts here.

I bought GE after running through some features. I like the OS deployments available, and I like the ease for development. Whether it will last, or I'll feel hampered and want a more object oriented approach, I cannot tell right now.

RE: game dev, I'm kind of a n00b. I have a computer science degree and I work FT as a software engineer with Java, and have used C++ and other languages for years. But I don't write games, daily. I started out in the 80s writing text adventures on my C-64. :D

I bought GE 1.3.4 a while back but wasn't a member of the forum back then... Now I upgraded to GE 1.3.9 because of its new features and some fixed bugs and joined the forum! I've gone a long way from when I started, I've produced over 15 game stubs over time, always with increases in quality, and now I think my skill level is good enough to produce really good games (see Gelman! and Project Spyrographs). Although, I really have to admit my first games were pieces of absolute CRAP. Perseverance is the only way to learn!

Spiro graph blew me away. It still does when I think about it. I want to shrink your version and see how it runs on my 200 mhz pocket pc. I own two versions of game editor: 1.3.6 and 1.3.7. I bought them both for 25 dollars each back when that was possible. Now I think the chepest option is 94 dollars from what I can tell from the website, which is a bit steep for my pocket books now days, but still a good price compared to Code Warrior and other pocket pc programming compilers. I have a B.S. Degree in Computer Science, a M.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering, and enjoy computer games both playing and making. I used to do it all with straight C++, but game editor makes it much easier! I love GE.

I bought GE because I wanted to make games for Pocket PC and get rid of this ! $ยง*#+=()$&! watermark.
(silver package)
but I'd be glad about another version of GE (maybe diamond package), that would be REALLY expensive, but you'd get the free updates forever.
If anyone will buy that, it would certainly be me =D

but all in one:
I think GE is great from what I have experienced.
It's a cool way to learn those C languages without vaporized brains.
and I would like everyone who hasn't done so yet to buy GE,
I still don't regret having done so.

:)

Wow, thanks, that means quite a lot to me. You have more programing experience than I do it seems. I should mention that I'm only a first year university student. I had no prior knowledge of C before starting working with GE and I've had only one real computer programming class in my entire lifetime (18 years). Project Spyrograph was a half accidental discovery really. Anyway, sorry for being off topic!
