Check out the shapeways link above - you can upload a 3D file, then pay shapeways to print it out for you, and then they mail it to you. You pay them per cubic centimeter, which can get expensive depending on what material you use. Plus, you'd have to learn a bit of 3D modelling in order to make your design. So, in any case, you would probably leave that for the last step (after you got else everything working). Someday, I'm gonna try this printing service out myself. :)

And about the sega genesis, do tell me if you actually find one for around 25 bucks, a lot of the comments on amazon said that's what they got them for at the dollar store (even $50 dollars seems a bit steep). those comments were from last November, so I don't even know if that price is still applicable.

sry about the blnk pic... didnt mean to post that... :( now what i was orginaly going to say: ok... i think i found a good place to start.... i found this thing that uses raspberry pi to play games off an emulator........ i can use that, and see if i can find the code for it and mebbe edit it a little bit... of course though imma going to have to look at ge's code too... or mebbe i am over-thinking this entire project... btw: i think i might use an actual gameboy instead of the sega thing... why? because 1. it's cheaper and 2. it might be easier to use... nothing is concrete until i buy the pi... i need to save my money up but in the mean time i will do the coding...

sorry Goomba but you can't use raspberry pi to make your handheld since raspberry pi can't work with any OS(operating system)there are only 4 os you can use and they aren't good for a handheld (others will be ported like Android(actually it is very very very slow))

Best of luck with the handheld system. For funding, if you can gain enough support ahead of time, kickstarter or those funding sites would be a good way to fund something like they did with that Ouya Cube project, which I'm not sure how well it turned out, but sounded like a good effort.
