I haven't posted much of anything, so i decided to post demos of the two games I'm working on to get some critique and ideas about them.
The first one doesn't have a name but is a side scrolling platformer(with some what of a story line)
Test1
controls:
arrow keys to move/jump
enter or space to continue from any "cut scenes/dialog"
The second game is a space shooter where you use score to buy upgrades for your ship(doesn't have name or story line
)
Space shooter
controls:
arrow keys to move
right control to shoot
Collectables:
repair
laser upgrade(temporarily upgrades your lasers[untill death])
bomb(kills all enemies on screen)
extra ship/life)
Upgrades:
Explained in game
Thank you for taking your time and i hope you can enjoy and critique these two games

Well done! I like them both!
The space shooter, the shooting needs to be constant. Like maybe a superweapon charges, but the basic shot should be unlimited.
The sound and graphics are great. Also like the homing missiles from that first space boss.....

I like the game play of the Platform test.
The Shooter looks good, but I can't find the key to shot.
PS: can you post the mid file of the Platform game? This remember me the old good days of my AWE 32 sound card in the 1996 year

Nice work Jimmy! Both are pretty good! My only complaints are that the boss is very picky on where you can hit him, and that the firing key should be something else than the right control key (hands are bunched up). Good use of my water tile by the way!
ttyl, and keep up the good work!

I would suggest making the firing on the shooter manual. You have to have tight controls if you are going to make it that hard. Also, the enemies seemed kinda small, and it was hard to get between their shots, you might slow down the enemy fire. The homing missiles on the boss were nice, and the sound too. I remember a game very similar to this on my mom's old windows 1.3 computer. I''m actually working on my own space shooter right now. Nice job on the background, I considered doing mine that way but I didn't like how there were less particles when I was moving upwards so I made mine several large actors y-infinite. Yours looks better though I think. I like the point system too. Not enough people release actual games and stuff on here in my opinion, so thanks!
By the way, if you want to check out an old demo of my game you can find it by searching for Crusade demo in the search box.

both games are very cool, i wish that i didnot have to hold down to shoot on the space game though. one problem with the rpg one; you have to hit it just on the top of the enemies head to kill it, i tried for awhile just to land perfectly on his head, if you hit the sides of the bush peoples head they will just hurt you. still, both games are awsome.

jimmy, thanks, how do you make this: when you jump left, player is turned on left side, and when you jump right, player is turned on right side.
I know how to do this, but i need help with this: When is player in air, and when he again collide with ground, he still turned on right side, but I want,
when player collide with ground, that his animation is how he run...
Um, if you understand and if you can help me, please ansewr
Thanks,
Camper

all right, i think i get what you mean, but you have to know how to do anti-moonwalking with
- Code: Select all
char *key=GetKeyState();
funtion, because it's kind of the same, if you don't know how to do this i will make a demo for you.

It doesn't sound like moonwalking. Then again, moonwalking takes all forms. You have a direction variable. When you are on the ground set a variable OnGround to 1. Or if you are just using one jump than you can set that as the test. Assuming you want to run when hitting the ground only when running, if keydown and OnGround ==1 and Direction. Then change the animation.
-Edit
Actually it does sound like moonwalking. I don't know what I was thinking.
