Hi,

There is the "Mouse down" action you can associate to any character (actor) to make him execute actions. Shooting something is one oft the easisiest thing to do with GE - even I learned it in the first days, And I am far away from being used with the programm.

I know that bit but how would i do it as such. What would i type in to get it to work. Theres also the problem of having object block your fire and movement and getting the actor to run round objects instead of over them

I am also a newbie, so I let answer the others for the rest, but as for shooting, Here is how I do it:

First I do 2 different animations. First let's say, of a guy walking. Than one of the guy falling down shot. Then, in GE, I create actor "guy". In the actor control panel "ad animation" I load the animatoion of the walking guy and then the animation of the guy shot. The actor has now 2 animations. Then I click in "Events ad" the option "mouse down", then I choose "left" and then ad the action "Animation finish". -> change animation -> and I then choose the new animation "shot". Then in the game mode, I see the actor walking and when I click with the mouse on it, he falls down. Of course, there's more to do. On the animation "shot" ad Animation-finish - change direction - stopped (or he will repeat falling down for ever) Also a new mouse down event -> play sound I can ad the sound of a gunshot.

What is essential to know is that you will have to create the necessary animations outside of GE, in a graphic programm.

I recommend you to go trough the embeded tutorials to learn the basic use of the interface. I know its still not easy then. I am also plain learning. But people here are very supportive.

Thanks for the info. Its probubly a good idea if i post problems as they come up and take it one step at a time. Firstly I have the level laid out how i want it and i have my character set up.

The view is controled by the arrow keys so you move the view around the level.

My character is currently set to move through a mouse down function on the ground. Its done by adding a left mouse button down event to the floor actor "the one which has the bitmaps for the floor tiles and makes up the floor of the level" setting a move to event Selecting my character under Actor, Then relative to Mouse Position then a velocity of 3. The character also has a collision, physical responce to the rest of the level "walls, chairs and so on". What I need to know is 2 things. Firstly I need to know how I can make my character move around corners and so on. And secondly how to change the animation for each direction he is walking in. I have 8 directions which is, Top, Top Right, Right, Bottom Right, Bottom, Bottom Left, Left and Top Left.

If anyone can help it would be much aprechiated
