Thanks Digiot!
- Don't take the "New game" option as the default mark on the title screen, you
can delete your save-file too easy, accidentally.
- The last mountain layer should scroll a little slower.
- Whenever Bumpus passes a ladder, he automatically changes his animation to the
climbing one. During a jump, it might be of use, but during walking, it looks
a bit strange. Ladder down, Bumpus is just sliding.
- It's hard, to bring Bumpus lying in bed, he prefers, sleeping upright.
- Once, I walked to the far,far west. There I climbed a huge pyramide, and Bumpus
became slower and slower, until he even nearly stands still, ultra slowmotion !
Another time, with the last Bumpus, I suddenly got a "Game over".
Is it intended, that he will become weaker over the time ?
- The progress screen lacks of the labels for all the values.
- How to get the skulls ?
Well, the game is complete, though there is room to fine tune it of course. My programming skills are limited, so when there is more time, I have to figure out how to code more efficiently.
Slow Down:The slow down is a concern of mine for certain computers and operating systems, thanks for mentioning your experience. Bumpus should never normally slow to a crawl. While my computer runs the game always at a solid frame rate as intended (nearly the same speed as the demo version) when the game is the ONLY thing running on my computer, I noticed that on laptops for some reason, the game crawls from the very start even though it has fast processing of 2.5 GHz and 4 GB Ram. Something either about the way it's programmed that can't handle the game's speed all at once with the other items in the game, or possibly an issue with creating such a large game using Game Editor. Much of the game's content would have to be sacrificed to iron it out I'm afraid. The only other thing I can imagine would be other programs on the gamer's computer running at the same time that might be affecting the game's speed. Shutting down all other programs helps a little for that situation. If it runs slow on one computer, try a different computer if possible for a faster, normal, playable frame rate.
Skulls Items:The skulls can be obtained only in Ghost Form. That is accomplished by getting the TOMB KEYS for all of the Eastern Tombs and middle land tombs. Out west past the blue giant pyramid, those are tombs that unlock the final Tomb in the sky and can be ignored if you want till later. You can obtain the Ghost form to complete the game and collect the skulls by collecting all 12 gems in the first 9 Tombs mentioned, including the blue pyramid Ghost Tomb. Once you unlock the Ghost tomb as the old Guide describes if you find him, Ghost Form becomes available to switch to when you like. Or back to human. The skulls represent the fact that Bumpus is in ghost form, so being a ghost, he can grab the skull symbols of "not being alive". There are 60 to collect, but even I have trouble finding them all.
Also, to give the Ghost more things to do, he can acquire the Paint Jars, which once collected, each one will begin to appear at his home Cabin where the two bugs are located on the ground. (The beetle bugs). That is also the location of the music notes, up the ladder to the right platform of tan rocks. You can shut the music off and just hear crickets and the nature sounds.
Thanks for those other tips as well. While they won't stop the game from being playable, they are little things that would be more intuitive, along with Lcl's suggestions as well, for the game experience overall. It does boil down to my limited programming skills and lack of free time.
For that reason, I decided to offer this game for free, since it's not ironed out completely and I'm thankfully beginning to get feedback on the experience thanks to all of you. Thank you!
