iphone - storing highscores ?? (BUG!)

Hi folks!

Just started to create my own game using GE ... plan to release it for the iphone.
Now one question comes to my mind -> when i start the game, i want to display the last achieved highscore.

My quesion: (How) is this possible at all?? Can you store a simple textfile or something on the iphone´s memory?
How would that work?

You can use the saveVars loadVars functions. You could also use a text file, but that makes it easier to edit. You can look the functions up here.

You can also search the forums, where there are many examples.

just tried it works like a charm. (Windows XP) now i have to see if it works on iPhone/iPod Touch as well :)

sonicfire, did you test this on the iPhone yet? I'm porting an old game to iPhone that used to save and load data using loadvvars and savevars perfectly, but on iPhone it seems that is saves okay but doesnt load. I thought I'd ask before I go looking for bugs.

Actually, don't worry. I spotted an obvious mistake I'd make and now everything is loading and saving on iPhone just fine :)

@kodo: yes, it loads/saves fine :-)

EDIT: using geapp now i´m unsure but have to see how this works/performs when my game is on the appstore :)

i just noticed that variables using load/savears aren´t propely saved somehow on the i-devices!

must be a little BUG! in my moon twit game, scores are not reloaded when the game starts (on PC it worked) !

Yeah I brought this up before it happened in my Momo Alien starcatcher. Of course I fixed it before I sent it to apple. I dont know how your doing your highscore save but your best bet is to the it like the way I did in the Mario Kart mini GED I have in game demos forum.

you fixed it before? how did you do that? :) i was just using save- and loadvars!
