Ok this may be a stupid question, but what exactly is the diference betwen installing and simply unpacking a game?

I dont tink there is a differance...
the installation program has a pakage of your software and needs to unpak or instal the program.

when you install a game, you can make links on the desktop, add files to the registry, and ask you about different things you want to install
