My question is: HOW ON EARTH DO I MAKE DESKTOP ICONS!?!?
I have been working on a new prodject: "Chipmonk WarZ"
it is a pretty fun for me to play it even when its not done (I am easily entertained) but i was wondering how i could get the icon file to work. i tried selecting the little 50x50 icon i made for the game(i tried it in 5 different formats: Bmp, Gif, png, pbm, and dip. out of about 50 different file options. it would be nice if some on could tell me "HOW ON EARTH DO I MAKE DESKTOP ICONS!?!?"

You must use .ico files

I think at one point in time you could make a bmp and rename the extension to .ico. Its worth a try.

this doesnt work most of the time. you need a bmp2ico converter or something !

I imagine it does. Both Gimp and Photoshop save that format as well.

I dont know. I've never used it. I know it is close in function to both gimp and photoshop, and they support that. From what I understand, it supports the usage of photoshop filters too. Check your help files, or google ico tutorials.

irfanview is a free and tiny application that supports conversion into ico files. its about as good as it gets for conversions.

paint shop pro 7 (i use it too) doesnt support ico files. But you can usually draw your icons in psp7 and cut and paste them into whatever package you end up using.
