People generally avoid static because either they don't have much experience using static variables, or that it acts a little weirdly in gE events and a lot of the times actor variables are a better fit. In this case static does make it portable across actors but not clones, since clones share the same static variables (also any actor that inherits the event will share the static value).

Great remark and well sed.
Thankfuly, there are no much developers to clone the main player.. I´ve seen at least one game as such but that´s all.

@digoit my project is for ..how can I say.. users that are fully aware of the limits in gE.
Image processing is one neat thing in gE.. but what about the canvas rendering mechanisms I will present.
My project is a proof that gE can be used for powerful programs, other than games.

Hey cracks, come on, don't let me die as a stupid !
Again, what does "portable" mean in this context ?
And what the hell is the "main player" ?

Cheers !

Why would you die stupid, like we are the only source of information in existance?

Portability refers to the exclusion of addition resources in order to achieve what has to be achieved.
For instance, the well-known copy/paste with ctrl+c and ctrl+v is portable, since it excludes any addition resource for porting one entity to another.

Main player is the main character in the game you are making. The super mario.

Other sources will not help here, and your description also is too abstract.

No, I mean relating to your little script, inside the GE environment.
Where I suggested to take globals, and you wondered why, since you want to have
the variables portable.
Also Sky stated, "static does make it portable across actors".
And in this specific context I don't understand, what portability means.
Sorry for my clumsy grasp here...

Ok, I thought, you mean a kind of super-actor, from which all actors are derived.

Thanks meanwhile !

I am unable to give you good explanation about gE stuff. Not only because not used to and not a native speaker.
Skydereign does both.. so.

Ok, you did your best, thanks.
Yes, it's not easy to explain something, even if one knows a lot about.
And the different languages are doing the rest...

But what about german ? Lots of balkanians are nearly native german speakers !

Cheers !

Though Germany is a big player here in little Europe, worldwide you'll better come
around with spanish, for sure. Your easiest choice of course would be russian,
due to the cyrillic alphabet.

I remember, we had to choose between latin, greek and french as third language in school.
I was forced to take french, and that was the one and only failure I had in school. I hated
the sound of french (and the teacher!), and all my friends were latins. I became pariah !

I will soul trap them and cast 7 souls with Razor Claw on them, hence I am a naughty trixter.
I have kinda.. personal opinion about germans. Generally because of the people playing there.. the staff. Cold people I say..
