Sonic Velocity (Demo Version Released!)

So, yeah - another Sonic game to be thrown onto the development table. ;)

Image

This one's called Sonic: Velocity, and will be in many ways a sequel to Empire of Nightmares, although not directly, so to speak.

The game will be based on my new Sonigy Engine, and will feature cutscenes with full voice-acting as well as extensive RPG style boss battles, and enhanced graphics/sprites.
Regarding screenshots, etc; I currently can show you a screenshot from the alpha-build of the game, featuring the new engine, sprites and a redesigned HUD:

I've decided to release the first portion of Sonic: Velocity to the masses. :D
This demo features the entire first chapter of the game, including all cutscenes (with voice acting), levels and the first boss battle.

Naturally the game is not finished just yet, and a number of bugs may be present as a result.
Regardless, please download, give it a shot, and I hope you enjoy the story so far~! :)

Hope you enjoy whatever I can conjour up! =D

SIDE NOTE:
Alrighty then - I know Shadow: Sons of Destiny development has been quiet lately. Mainly because...um, there hasn't been any. Today I'm officially anouncing that SOD is dead in the water.
Why would I do this? Well mainly because for the most part, a game where you play as Shadow will not appeal to as many people out there in internet land as a game where you play as Sonic, for example, whom has a much wider
fan base and whom more can relate to in a storyline.

Luckilly, there wasn't much practical work done on Sons of Destiny - in fact, nothing more than a main menu, since I've been working relentlessly on my new Sonigy Engine, which provides a near-SEGA experience for all GE Sonic fan games. :) The engine is well on it's way to a final version, and naturally I'll be using it as the framework for Sonic Velocity. :D

This looks pretty awesome. The screenshot looks just like an actual sonic game, and that would be really cool to have full voice acted cutscenes.

Alright then, thought I'd show you a quick test of one of the characters voice overs.

Shadow the Hedgehog is being voiced by someone I shall keep unamed untill I'm sure he's cool with his name being "public".

Here's what he's gonna sound like:

The animation is meerly a test - the final product will be much more...uh, final.

Hope you like. ^^

xD thanks mate. :D

Oh and just in case you or indeed anyone else is concerned about the actual game rather than just the cutscene concepts, I'm glad to report that the core mechanics and physics are almost perfect - any of the few issues that plagued Empire of Nightmares have been eliminated and i couldn't be happier with how the core gameplay has turned out so far. :)

Quick Update on progress here:

Core Engine:
*Now at RTM 2
*Physics code now very fluid and Sonic-esque
*Acceleration/Decceleration implemented into physics
*Sonic now dies normally - If you have rings on contact with a foe, you loose them. If you make contact with a foe with no rings, you die. Simple as.
*Attacking enemies is now bug free and as accurate to Sonic as possible, by simply jumping or spinning into a ball.
*Current Level Time added
*Load/Save code done
*Level Exits done

Battle Engine:
*At prototype 3 stage
*All finished except for the players attacks and victory/defeat screens

Opening Movie:
*about 1/2 way done

Main Menu:
*Overall Appearance is finished, but functionallity to be added.

Tech Demo 1 of the engine is completed and will be released for beta testing to select members and other individuals.

So in short, we're getting somewhere! :D I still need numerous voice actors however. :(
