GE3, a GE event for newbies and those who don't know

Lets expand on my video concept, which we can still do, but do a little event, where we show everyone upcoming creations of GE, along with a Q&A and maybe a few demos here and there. Perhaps we can do this in June/July, since that is when everyone is out of school looking for new things to do. Perhaps Sabre can be our main event, and if a GE developer would like to, they can show a hands-on video of the progress of GE itself. Of course to fill in between the big stuff, we will have our other things, perhaps any new games someone would like to share, this will be a long event, not just a 3-5 minute video because as I said, it would be cool to have a Q&A, and demos for the people to play. :D

Interesting. One question though.. why is the name GE3? Just asking out of curiosity :P
And well, another question also.. So, this is going to be an event.. but what does that mean in practice?

p.s. See the PM I'll send to you within a few minutes xD

E3-GE3, lol. Oh yeah, E3 is a large event in which the big game companies, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, go to, to show off their future projects and features. I am sure there is more to it, but you know, that is basically what it is. So I was just doing a spin on the E3 name with GE.

Also, knuckle, I am open to sharing as much as I can about future games. :)

Oh, I see now.. I'm not that aware of things like that. I had heard the name before anyway, but.. yeah. :P
But how will all this be managed?

I don't know yet, but how I want this to role is for us to go to different places and ask if they would promote our event, and then we can try to set up a live stream with a chat on the side, so when the Q&A comes up, we can answer questions. First off, I think we should try to think of an order.

Perhaps we open first with a 5 minute video showing everything in the past of GE to start off the show.
Then maybe we can open up with a GE progress video, showing the new features of GE, and not just talking about them
After that we show some games in the making
Then we have SABRE progress up, showing everything SABRE can do.
Lastly, we have a Q&A session, for an x amount of time, depending how long this will be.

Maybe we can talk about some forum things such as the tournaments, to get them interested in actually joining the forums.

You guys can feel free to throw ideas at my head if you want.

Okay, that sound very interesting. If we plan this carefully, it can be really great.

I think we should use as much pre-recorded and pre-edited video material as possible. That way we can make it become a professional presentation, instead of a lame stream of people trying to get things said live. That is what it would end up if we tried to record everything live. And then of course all the parts that will have to be recorded live have to be very carefully planned and practiced so that the presentation would be as fluent and flawless as it possibly can.

We also have to decide on who talks about what things and of course, who there will be speaking on the stream in the first place, and who will be the one, or if there is more than one, who they will be, to answer the Q & A.

There's a lot of things to consider, plan and decide.

Well, yeah, I would hate to be improvising this a lot, so I want to have this as scripted as possible with pre-made videos, the only time we should be talking is to transition into something else, give a bit more detail about a specific thing, and to answer the questions from the stream.

The person who should be speaking should be English-speaking, which I am sure we all are, since that would be who is watching this, and probably an adult, who is used to speaking out loud, as kids typically sound annoying, and we need someone on here with experience. Of course, the actual answers could be coming from multiple sources, maybe like we can connect to each other, and then we can answer based on who the question is going out to. Of course it would help a whole bunch if a developer could join in too.

Exactly.

Well, personally, I'd love to be speaking on the stream although I'm not a native English speaker. But in case that my speaking isn't good enough for this, I'll be helping with the managing of this thing anyway. As for the developer I think the only one we should consider is skydereign, since it's he who is actually developing Game Editor now. There would be no point in trying to get makslane to say something about the development, as he may not even be aware of the current stage of the project, because he hasn't worked on it during the last years (to my knowledge). It's just a raw fact, that even with the huge amount of respect we have towards makslane, he hasn't been around that much lately and most likely doesn't have a clear vision of how things are with Game Editor currently. By no means do I mean any of this as a disgrace towards makslane, he's the guy who made all this possible and we can never thank him enough for that. I just think that currently he isn't the right person to inform people about the present state, as well as the future, of Game Editor.

Well lcl, if your voice is understandable, and you don't say uh or um, or lose train of thought in middle of speaking too much, then sure, you can speak, plus when the Q&A comes up, I am sure many will ask about SABRE, and you or bat would have to answer them anyways. As for the dev, I don't think mak is completely not working on it, he is on the forums sometimes, even though that doesn't mean he is working on GE itself for sure, but you are right, sky is probably working the most on GE, it would be nice for both to be able to speak a bit about GE. :)

Also, is there any other segment I should add, and if not, does the order I put it in sound good?

If I get to practice enough, I won't umm... uh... what was I saying... all the time. And with the pre-recorded videos with pre-recorded voice-overs I can just keep trying the recording as many times as is required for me to get a perfect take without ummuhhwhatwasisayings :P

NightOfHorror wrote:Plus when the Q&A comes up, I am sure many will ask about SABRE, and you or bat would have to answer them anyways

That would be me for all things about SABRE itself, since I'm the only one working on the actual engine. bat78 could talk about the Add-ons if he wants, or I can cover them, too, if it's okay for him.

And yeah, we could ask makslane, too, but I'm not sure if he has that much to say at this point. But we'll see about that later on.

And, well, I can't think of any more segments to add at this point, and the order sounds good.

Oh wait, I just realized that knuckle had more than 5 smilies in his message.

Yeah, and for the parts you don't get to just tape, you can practice just to yourself.

There is one thing we should be discussing and that is advertising for this. GE3 is meant to show all the cool features and projects that GE is about to bring in an hour or 2, but if no one shows up to watch the stream it is pointless. When we finally have the stream ready and all the recorded parts done, while someone brings that all together for the stream, we need to go to as many places as we can to ask if they will advertise it. If even just a hundred or more show up, I consider it a success because some of them would be destined to join the forums and GE itself to see what everything is about. So does anyone have any ways of advertising it to get it noticed enough for a few people to show up?
