Remember getting quite a bit of advice from you and skydereign and playing some of your games.
Is Bee-Ant still active? He had some decent games too.

Making steady progress with my game now and really enjoying it. I found that my initial problems were down to a bit of bad programming and those wonderful hidden features of game-editor.

The problem with the textnumber was simply the fact that it was (for no reason I could see) moving the text actor off the screen. When I made it follow a different character I could see it was working fine.
I then spent a couple of hours trying to get a global function to work and then I remembered you had to reference all the actors that would be used in the global function in the event that called it.

People who joined while I've been away - it's good to meet you, I look forward to asking you all lots of questions when I get stuck, (which is often )

No, bee-Ant is gone.

Does he? I have never seen him on any topic.

It's become a very argumentative place this forum

Hey I remember you

I still lurk here and make the occasional post. There is a little more bickering than there was a few years back, but it's still a pleasant place. :)
I do miss the long and insightful posts from Dst, Fuzzy, Pyro, and Bee-Ant though.

But yeah, personally I don't use GE much anymore tbh, although I do find it handy for prototyping stuff quickly.

I mostly got sick of limited rotation / scaling, as well as little things like not having the ability to switch between fullscreen/window mode in game or change resolution.
There are other things too, but I still like GE a lot.
In lieu of that, I've kinda "moved" to Unity for my personal projects, but am also looking at UE4 as a possible engine to use. Actually it's probably healthy to learn a lot of different engines.

There are still a good handful of people here though. The most interesting project here right now is the Sabre project that lcl and bat78 are working on. It's fun to see that progressing. We also have a group forum project called Steam Run, which has kinda been put on hold since a lot of people have been busy (including myself).

Really I've been starting to think that too, it might be nice to diversify?

It's great to see some of the old crowd still lurking in the shadows. Most of what I know about programming is from chatting with you guys.

Jagmaster - I tried Unity once but didn't know where to start.

I've spent the whole weekend working on my new game. Not got much to show for it at the moment but I've actually done a big part of the code.
I've created the first 2 rooms to test out most of the functions I'll be using
As usual I've come to a stumbling block with the graphics. I'm rubbish at art  . I need to read up on creating floor tiles.

I surprised myself with how much I remembered and how much more efficient my coding is compared to when I last used it.
Going to spend some time catching up on the forums and joining in some conversatios now
