OK I've got two questions:

1) Can GE ONLY load .sav files for LoadVars?(When I dinking around earlier, it didn't seem to load an ".ifo" file I had saved)

2) There is a savecanvas function, but how do you load the canvas back?

There is no fixed extension for the files saved with saveVars function.
You can use the restorecanvas function to get a canvas from the memory (not from file).
