And download some of the demos and open them up in game editor and look at how everything is set up. If you have any questions, post them here. No matter how basic. Try adding an actor. Make or copy a sprite from somewhere (for example, the demos) or a tile (from the demos) -- give your sprite some animation, make it move. Make it keep its feet on the ground tiles that you add and then jump. Find out how to make the view follow the actor. Ask if you don't know how to do any of that. This is a wonderful game making tool! You can do so much, but it takes patience if you're not familiar with game editors. Don't be afraid to ask!

And...
Don't forget to read the Documentation. You can find it under the Help menu. Especially helpful is the Getting Started section.

Also, lots of questions have already been asked by others so you can often find what you are looking for by searching the forums.

Do you have some sprites and tiles?

Did you try some of the tutorials?

How far have you gotten? Where are you stuck?

What do you want to do that you can't?

There's a really good tutorial on having your character walk around by Trajecto. It also shows you how to add an actor and some animattion. But to add animation you need some sprites.

Try making your own Moon Defender game. I'd suggest you start there. Download the demo so you have the sprites and tiles. Make your own file and try to follow the tutorial that tells you how.

It is very exciting. : ) ) It took me a long while to do that. I wish I'd done it sooner.

At the top of the GE window, there should be a row of orange buttons. Click "help"!
