stick man with sword

ok so I've been drawing my own guy with a sword lately and when i draw him swinging his sword down, i try to draw that sword slash effect but i fail at it and it's getting really annoying. heres the pic.

have you tried Ferals spirter tool??

what program you using?
In gimp I'd just use the paths tool, feather the selection a bit and fill in a gradient

yes it does and thats way i was looking for i just wasn't sure how to use my tools to make this blade effect right, thanks for showing me how u both deserve a point.

Thanx I did it on photoshop..just messing with the pen tool. I guess these sprite art tools would be a better choice as its faster
