Agreed, 3D hurts my head to think about, but it's so visually appealing for the eyes.
But i am still try to learn 2D and GE concepts.
Bee-Ant has some cool stuff, i am a new fan of Bee-Ant (but i think there's some real issue with my ram, it keeps segmentation faulting when i try to run downloaded GEDs.)

this reminded me of Mario Kart or more like Outrunner.
so I wanted to try to make something 3D-ish (using trigonometry i learned from my junior high math teacher).
then came time to sort the objects by scale to draw objects from further away first,
bubble sort slowed the real_fps down to 15 when zoomed out.
so i used a different sort (not sure what the technical term for it is, but it improved alot back up to 29/30 fps).
now i wonder what the most efficient scale sorter is.

this is the most successful 3D test i have done up to date (before this, all i did was fiddle around with some Z, i think GE might have helped in making some connections or might have simplified 3D downto 2D so that i can wrap my mind around it)
sort'of, 3D still hurts my head to think about, just a little less now after this practice.
I am on my way to making Halo 10 game...(dream or maybe Halo 1 just with more levels).

Tintran, I hope you don't mind that I merged your demo with my Mode 7 to see the results!
took me a couple of hours to make the mode 7 match your perspective, still not perfect, but I'd have to remake everything in order for it to match. The fps is poor of course... (4fps with pixel doubling)
but visually, it's really awesome and more to move around :)

For a reason or another, GE forum doesn't let me upload the Tile.bmp for the exe, here instead: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9246426/Tile.bmp

Neon Z racing: A (semi) fast 3d game.

Number in the upper corner is real_fps. I get 60 on my dualcore amd and 30 on my sempron 3600.

This is a windows exe only demo showing only 1/5th of the map. Reason is, GE cannot use arrays over 10k in an exe, and the text file read is borked on Linux, and everything is off because of it.

Use the arrow keys to drive. Note that you must extract the files first because it needs the track.txt file to function.

I'd love to know what kinds of Fps you get and what OS/Cpu you are using!
It's easier to be clever than it is to be kind.

Wow amazing DST!! If only GE could manage your full track so then we could possibly put together a full 3D-ish racing game! :D

Ive got an Intel Core2Duo 1.86Ghz processor... I get inbetween 30 to 60 FPS. Well its mostly either 60 or 30 ish. It can run at 60FPS for a bit but sometimes drops down to 30FPS.

Im running it on Ubuntu 10.10 64bit through WINE (a Windows compatibility layer).

a great steady 50-60fps on my broken cpu, great! which is a 2.8gHz.
You're using line-to right? and most likely your own algebra :) great job! I'm more and more jealous of you guys, keep it up :D
